12:03 PM – Remediation Company Finally in Unit

We visit the apartment to find Najera Environmental remediating the mold. We talk to Danny who explains that his crew was shocked to find belongings in the unit. They had messaged Gloria Camou to tell us to remove all of our belongings before the remediation process began. Gloria Camou failed to relay the message and Jimmy Ordaz repeatedly denied our requests for removal citing costs.

Najera Environmental was forced to move our belongings into piles further disturbing the mold and destroying even more of our belongings.

Danny remarked that the mold inside the apartment was really bad and that “we had a case.” He relayed his phone number and agreed to send pictures of the work. He also commended Robert Soto for his clear and easy-to-follow survey of the unit. They knew exactly what to do.

Danny also said that he thinks the entire bathroom, including the shower and toilet, needed to be removed and remediated. Said he told his boss. Coastline would ignore this request.

Danny states that the apartment needs to be dried for at least 48 hours and that he was confident that they would get in there to complete the job on Tuesday, Sept 28. But that’s just the remediation. The apartment still needs to be rebuilt, and our belongings need to be cleaned and returned. Days of work are still ahead.

7:42 PM – Remediation done right

We enter the unit to find the negative pressure containment areas properly set up and can hear dehumidifiers running behind the plastic sheeting. Warnings state that it is a biohazard area and that respirators as well as protective clothing are required. Coastline tried to get us to move back into this biohazard unit, but we stopped them with our own environmental survey.

Environmental company relayed message to Coastline to have our belongings removed from unit before remediation but message was never relayed, so remediation company threw our belongings into careless piles. We’d also requested an opportunity to remove our belongings before remediation but those requests were angrily denied by Jimmy Ordaz citing costs. He essentially forced the cost onto us by destroying our belongings.
