A Written Timeline

  • Feb ’20 – Unwarranted eviction threats
  • Feb ’20 – Coastline removes and does not replace on-site apartment manager which is illegal in California for a building of 15+ units and sets us up for disaster during the mold incident
  • Mar ’20 – Locked out of apartment and forced to change locks ourselves due to Coastline negligence. Now Coastline does not have a key to our unit.
  • Aug ’20 through Move-out – Coastline refuses to fix the leaky garage pipe above our carport and never reimburses permanent body damage
  • Nov ’20 to Mar ’21 – Coastline has driven out the vast majority of tenants and performs loud and sometimes unlawful renovations on the vast majority of the units. Veronica, an ICU nurse during Covid, cannot sleep between overnight shifts so she asks for construction in next-door apartment #3 to be performed in the afternoons to allow her to get some rest. Coastline refuses simple request; continues banging on and drilling into our bedroom wall
  • Dec ’20 – Coastline’s lawyer sends threatening letter to stop us from complaining about construction noise
  • Dec ’20 to Jun ’21 – Water to our unit is shut off multiple times without warning
  • Feb ’21 to move-out – Laundry room flooded and never repaired
  • Mar ’21 to Sep ’21 – Our electric bills jump from a maximum of $75/month to $400+ with no explanation. It takes months for Coastline to find the cause of the bills with us
  • Sep to Oct ’21 – THE MOLD INCIDENT. Coastline ignores the collapse of our living room ceiling to expose toxic mold. The company tries to gaslight us into moving back into the apartment despite the health hazard and Coastline destroys our belongings during the remediation process with ineptitude
  • Sep ’21 – Coastline changes the locks to our apartment to regain access to the unit while effectively locking us out of our own home.
  • Oct ’21 to present – The mold incident’s fallout continues to this day
